An anthology of stories published in the first years of Canada's national
Native newspaper First Nations Drum is now available for order.
Featuring the newspaper's finest articles between 1990 and 2004, the
stories provide the background to the events that shaped the landscape
of Native communities.
Written from
a Native perspective, articles examine the most challenging circumstances
First Nations have faced including the Oka crisis, the residential
school system, the Nisga'a's hundred-year fight to settle their
land claim; and the continual struggle for ecological survival of
Native communities.
Smoke
Signals From The Heart also celebrates the achievements of Canada's
Native role models - the artists, the musicians, the women, the
elders, the business leaders and many others - in personal profiles
and interviews.
